Overview

JReader is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains our practices regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of information when you use our iOS text-to-speech application.

We do not collect any personal information. JReader is designed to respect your privacy completely. The app:

  • Does not collect any personal data
  • Does not track your usage
  • Does not require any account creation
  • Does not share any information with third parties
  • Does not use analytics or tracking tools
  • Does not access your location
  • Does not collect device identifiers

Camera Access

JReader may request access to your device's camera solely for text recognition functionality:

  • Camera access is used to read text from documents and images for conversion to speech
  • All image processing occurs locally on your device
  • No images or text data is transmitted to any servers
  • No content is shared with any third parties
  • All content remains entirely under your control

Text Processing

Any text you input or scan for text-to-speech conversion:

  • Is processed entirely on your device using on-device machine learning
  • Is never transmitted to external servers
  • Is not stored permanently unless you explicitly save it
  • Remains completely private and secure

Data Storage

Any preferences, settings, or saved text you configure within JReader are stored locally on your device only. This information:

  • Never leaves your device
  • Is not backed up to any cloud services by our app
  • Can be deleted by uninstalling the app
  • Is not accessible to other applications

Third-Party Services

JReader does not integrate with or use any third-party services, analytics tools, or advertising networks. All text-to-speech processing is performed using Apple's on-device frameworks and our proprietary neural voice models that run locally on your device.

Children's Privacy

JReader does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under the age of 13, as we do not collect any information at all. The app can be safely used by children under parental supervision.

Permissions

JReader requests the following permission for core functionality:

  • Camera: To read text from documents and convert it to speech

You can revoke this permission at any time through iOS Settings, though this will disable the document scanning feature.
